About Aimee

Aimee Zoe Tubbs

Aimee Zoe Tubbs is a drummer, washboardist, singer and video maker who also dabbles in piano and saxophone. She can be found playing with Seattle americana groups The Starlings, Moe Provencher Project, busking duo MoZo, and rock group My Favorite Girl as well as sitting in with various other projects including Strange Jerome.

She draws on diverse influences that range from Julie Andrews to the Throwing Muses, and has played in a variety of alt-flavored bands. Most recently, this diversity has led her from the surf-punk of The Octabites and the straight-up rock 'n' roll of Joan Jett tribute band Jett City, into the americana roots of The Starlings and Pelusa, and the southern-fried jazz of Datri Bean.

Aimee also gives private drum lessons, provides music therapy at LPGH, and records and performs with numerous local projects. Her love of teaching is apparent and the joy that she derives from music is contagious.

Currently she can be seen and heard with ~

The Starlings

New album available! EP of seven songs dubbed, "Gravity." This is a sneak peek of our full-length that will be released July 2010!!

Since forming in 2005, The Starlings have released three recordings, each showcasing the harmonies and lyrical melodies they are known for. Based out of Seattle, they've received accolades from notable sources as Maverick Magazine and Americana UK; appeared live on Seattle's Audioasis (KEXP); spent eight weeks on John Richards' (KEXP) "Top Ten Northwest Bands"; and shared prominent performances with the likes of Todd Snider, The Wood Brothers, The Avett Brothers, Eilen Jewell and numerous regional artists.

What matters to The Starlings, after much touring and performing, is their tried and true blend of voices and musicianship. The core of this sound emits from the founding members – Joy Mills, Tom Parker and Aimee Zoe Tubbs, and is enhanced by a rotating cast of guest musicians. Their approach is contemporary and inventive, inspired by a wide range of music genres. Guitar, banjo, harmonica, and drums take us through elemental themes that create The Starlings' solid repertoire. From a pin-dropping ballad to a foot-stomping barnburner, their images linger – empty boxcars, twilight on the prairie, divining rods, river beds, and the long drive home.

Moe Provencher

Moe Provencher is, well, Moe Provencher. Her Band (or Project, or Adventure, or Hour, or whatnot) is most often Aimee Zoe TubbsBob Rice, and Michele Khazak. A whole bunch of Seattle (and beyond) luminaries played on Blues Filter Through, and when we're really really lucky, they show up on stage as well.

Moe Provencher is a singer, songwriter, engineer, and player of guitars, harmonicas, and mandolins. She has two solo records to date: 2007's 4-song EP 2+2, and the full-length follow up in 2009, Blues Filter Through. Moe can also be found busking 'round the streets with Aimee as the country/bluegrass duo MoZo, and occasionally sitting in with other folks like The Starlings and Strange Jerome.

Former Projects

people and bands i've worked with over the years :)

Datri Bean

Sepia-toned vocalist Datri Bean was raised in a rodeo family on the plains of Wyoming, a lifestyle she describes as being “on the cultural moon.” Early recollections of her musical inspirations lead to her reminiscing about a single Scott Joplin album and the old, crunchy record player her mom had. While she wouldn’t discover her affinity for sultry, vintage jazz and Southern-laced Americana for many years to come, the foundation for Datri’s rich story-telling and breezy melodies were found there, on the prairie land of Cheyenne.

Datri is still new to the life of a musician and with that innocence she’s created her own style and her own rules. Her trademark striped socks, her cleverly-titled record label: Butter Bean Records and the growing fans and friends she had made in both Austin and Seattle all point to an artist who refuses to be your typical jazz standards-singer, or singer-songwriter, for that matter. 2005 saw Datri honored by both the Kerrville and Rocky Mountain folk festivals and as she strides into 2006, she was recently named one of the “top ten artists you’ve never heard of” by About.com

Jett City

Jett City is a Seattle-based tribute to the godmother of riot grrls, Joan Jett.  Jett City was nominated by the Seattle Weekly for the title of the Puget Sound's best tribute band. The Jettsters were honored to be up against tribute heavyweights like Hell's Belles and the 1234's.
